Easter egg hunt, free dinner in Scranton this weekend

Sweet Treats, the community outreach program of the Scranton United Methodist Church, has two events planned this weekend.

An Easter egg hunt is scheduled on Saturday, April 1, at 9 am. Youngsters should arrive at the Scranton School Memorial Park prior to 9 am. The Easter Bunny is expected to make a guest appearance. Bring your camera for photos with the special guest.

Sunday a free community meal will be served, starting at 11 am. Lidderdale Country Store is catering with ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans and roll served. Desserts will be provided by members of the UMC and the community.

To collect your meal, drive up to the Education Building / Sweet Treat door. Someone will take your order and bring the meals to your vehicle.

Sweet Treats operates every Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm. There are grab and go meals, snacks, crafts and more. Hygiene products are available if needed. Bibles (available in large print) can be provided.

The group will continue to have coats, hats and gloves available through the end of March.

Heading Sweet Treats are Erica Burris and Curt and Angela Eason. Persons who want more information can call 712-790-8140 or 515-370-1600. They appreciate the donations from businesses and individuals who make the program possible.
